That is very true. And in those years when we were laid off all winter, and later when we were put in non-pay status all winter, M and I did some really fine adventuring. Travel all over the country. Young, strong, unencumbered, in love, friends scattered all over that we could stay with a few days or even weeks. Fully 20 out of the 32+ years of our work life, we were off a good chunk of time every year. Fine times .

"infect" is judgmental; who are we to say what microbe is good or bad for the tree?
