Someone came by my office trying to sell those. Sounded ok until I thought about where the moisture in the air comes from when you're inside an airconditioned office building - sweat and exhaled air. Means I'd be drinking someone's sweat and spit. No thanks.

My water bubble up out of a hole in the ground and runs down to a holding tank. We pump from the tank to the barns and houses. Sometimes a frog gets sucked in. You just switch a couple of valves and back feed it to pop the frog out. It's all good.

I do like the idea as the world is taxing the water resource. However, I would think it fair if they would calculate the purchase price and life of the appliance into the cost per liter result. If they are going to compare pricing to delivered water expense and store bought. They priced the solar unit as zero cost per liter..:what

It's things like this that crack me up. The "green" crowd thinks this is all fine and dandy, but how much energery does this thing suck out of the wall gathering, cleaning and dispensing?

That was their figure on the regular unit. It did calculate the cost per liter based on electricity usage. But that was all. No purchase price, life of unit, expected servicing... The energy out of the wall would calculate into how CO2 friendly it is. Obviously solar would be the best.

Back to the dehumidifier/ water dispenser, it's not as gross as you all think. Every drop of water on earth has been recycled a few times. Where do you think rain comes from? Water is just water, two hydrogen atoms bonded with an oxygen atom.

True dat. It's a very dry ride. I fish Lake St. Clair, which is in the Great Lakes chain, and is "big" water. It gets nasty pretty easily, and this boat will handle it like a champ.

As for the water thing, you're right Squoil. The water we drink now is the same water the Roman legion drank, and the same water that was used during the Civil War. It all gets recycled. I think it's just the thought of it though. Water is water, but unless it was filtered and deionized, I'd rather have water from a lake or a river than water that I sweat out yesterday. Just a mental thing.

Hell knows I recycled plenty of water this weekend.
