Liquid Meritt. Made by Bayer Corp. Water in systemic. Will go 100 up a tree. Monterrey make a less expensive version that includes nutrients for the tree.
Then water in super thrive and fish emusion. Mulch. If you can air spade or verticle mulch, that would also be ideal to loosen the soils up some.
Keep watering the tree.
The insect stuff, you'll need about one oz per inch of circumference at three feet high above ground measurement.
Home Depot should have it. If not, check some Nurseries.

Found my fb post from last go round.

I forgot to mention we are below sea level in the same valley as the Salton sea, so the environment/soil is pretty salty. Don’t know if that might play in.

My grandpa used to occasionally deep water the trees and I think add gypsum…? St Augustine grass makes it hard to do much with the soil.

They are the outcome of a tree's defense against the little borer insects attracted by its weakness. Filling the little tunnels with sticky glue surely annoys them.
It isn't usually a good sign, even if I saw once a Cedrus fully recovered after a massive attack.

Tree has been maintaining despite this idiot (will explain). Then I noticed 3 more brown limbs. I thought it must have bugs again and wondered if the right thing to do wasn’t to whack and burn the whole thing to prevent spread. Been watering it more, looked at it this am (from the ground, need to get up in it and inspect) and realized the brown needles are on the S and W sides…just like half the trees in town (that aren’t all brown from no summer rain). So maybe no bugs just bad summer and bad owner, lack of water. I’ll get up there and see/prune.

S is left

Going thru old family pics a while back, found pics of my mom and uncles in the front with their cars, etc. when the trees were small.

How's the root zone?

Concrete on 2 sides.

Reflected heat from concrete and asphalt?

Too heavily irrigated?

Compaction?

Grass and trees hate each other. Fertilizer?
