It suffered a great fall and broke like Humpty Dumpty .Broke the oil tank which is of course part of the crankcase . I found one on flea bay cheap,200T with a flippy cap .It took me about 3 hours more or less to change it out .Some high lights for reference .

First off someone recently asked about how to get the oil pump off .Remove the side plate plus the two dust guards .Remove that plastic gizmo in the pic which is the worm gear drive ,Remove the bottom hose which is the supply from the tank ,Remove the two screws and pop it out along with that rubber thing which is the outlet to the bar .

To get the piston off one of these little gems is a chore because everything is so small .I use an ice pick to pop out the circlip which only 9 mm .To reinstall make sure the arrow on the piston points towards the ex port .The circlp is a bear to get back in .Fact is I had one go into orbit but I had several more lying around . Make sure the rings are aligned with the pins in the piston and slide the cylinder back on .Make sure the gasket is inplace and aligned properly .Because of the way the transfer ports are the gasket will only line up one way .

To remove the bar adjust should that ever be neccessary it's only one screw then pry the whole mess out .You have to run the adjuster forward to get to that screw .

The simplest way to set the air gap on the coil is a business card .In the pic I used Scotts which is exact 10 thou thick .Just loosen the screws ,roll the flywheel around and let the magnets pull the coil in place .Tighten it and remove the card .Good to go .

I almost forgot .To remove the boot once the handle is off you just pop out the plastic thing that acts as snubber instead of using a clamp like most Stihls .Then pull off the boot .

This one surprised me .It has a nonadjustable carb,Walbro WT .I always thought they all had fully adjustable carbs.

Usually I open the mufflers quite a bit on these things but for concern it might cause this one to run out lean I only did just a little .For some unknown reason Tom never pulled the baffles which he usually does .Well they're history now .

Tested it out on an oak log ,ran fine .Call it a day .

My 020T has the Walbro carb. I ordered a kit from Bailey's and got a Zama kit. I think I'll just buy a new adjustable carb for it. I do, however, have a bunch of similar Walbro carbs with full adjustments. I wonder if I could mix and match and get one to work?:/:
 
I'd recommend using Tom's old carb rather than the non adjustable one. The non adjustable carb may be why it ended up as a seized parts saw in the first place. :O

That is his carb ,it's what the thing had on it ..I'll have to ask him if he has any old ones floating around .I too think a fully adjustable would be better .

His wasn't seized but more than likely the donor saw the crankcase came from was .
 
Heck Al, I have a dead 200T bottom end I would have given you if I had known. It's been raided for most of the spare parts but as long as you had an intact top handle then you could have made it work. :dontknow:

Before I forget he had priced a set of crankcase halves the other day .Would you believe they get half the price of a new 200T for those things ,Good grief .I landed this one with a crankshaft ,like 45 bucks .Didn't have to split it ,install new seals ,nothing .It has one of my flip caps on it but even after a new flippy he's only going to have 55 bucks in it .

I didn't even think about asking around B .He mentioned it and I jumped on flea bay and had one bought in 5 minutes .
 
Looks like we were about doing the same thing Al. I was working an FS 250. Almost the same piston and takes the same rings. Almost had the new set of rings all set in her and boo boo'd. Broke a ring.:|:
I hear ya about those clips. Same size on this one too. PIA :lol: Make sure you wear PPE cause you don't wanna lose an eye :lol:

He came out and got it today .Now I'm not a fan of fixed jet carbs but that one seems to be okay .It 4 strokes very nicely out of the wood and settles right down once it's in the wood .The plug was black so perhaps my little muffler enhancement will improve that .Evidently it was over jetted from the factory .It may be old enough that was before the EPA got snotty .:?

How much more do you need out of them, Jed? I pull the muffler baffles and maybe hog out the hole a tad more, then adjust the carb accordingly. Run synthetic oil for less friction and it's plenty strong for me (and I'm addicted to ported saws). I think Craig had a couple that Ed Heard ported but I don't think Ed will port any more of them.
 
Yeah... Good point Brian. Mine runs great. Why mess-up a good thing. Yeah... I like the synthetic stuff too. I will hog the hole bigger though. Thanks for the advice.

Well really not neccessary .You've got to remember though in my case I'm a gear head .If somebody tells me it can't be done I'll try to prove them wrong when I know full well it can be done .

It all started after Ed Heard said there's nothing you can do to them .So the result was a 15,600 rpm bumblebee that cuts a shade faster than most stockers .Now don't get me wrong because Ed could have done it,he just didn't want to because the tiny things are a beech to work over the ports on .You need fingers about the size of soda straws and I don't believe either Ed or myself fit in that catagory .
