Time Lapse Tree Work

Some of today's work to remove one of a stand of Silver Maples for a pavilion. This was the last tree that might hit the power line.
Forgot the GoPro ... had to use a tablet ... NOTE: battery died before the stem could be dropped ... but got the fun stuff.

You made that with an iPad?

i use a jameson pruner on a fixed 6' pole. same pruner head as the marvin, i think the parts are even interchangeable. i find i seldom need anything longer in the tree.

Jamie really does have a knack for shaping them, it isnt easy on lrger trees especially. I loved it!

thanks Nick, tho i did have my groundman spot me on the shape every now and then.

we were done with the beech by 2, so about 5 hrs total with me and a ground guy (a good one).

I had to reduce a Beech ( a little bit smaller than yours maybe) on saturday and it took me the whole afternoon.

I hate shaping trees. I admire those that do it, and do it well. Around here the "experts" use a bucket truck and hedge trimmers.

that is how we got this job. another co bucket hedged the clients huge coast live oak. he hired us to fix it when he saw us do the neighbors beech.

Hello everyone, Just thought I would share my first Youtube time lapse/video. This tree was missing it's top since 2005 I took it down end of last year. At the end of the video is a view of what destruction the termites had caused after Hurricane Katrina removed the top.

Nice. I wonder (being tied into the pine), if the dead snag woulda failed, what was the plan? I mean, I assume you'd come off your lanyard and have a nice swing to (or INTO) the pine... but what happens if everything happens too fast and you can't undo your lanyard?

Until they invent breakaway lanyards, I rarely (and I mean RARELY) tie into another tree to be "safe."

Not dogging ya, bro. Just asking. We've had discussions about breakaway lanyards. Everything from clipping into your belt loop all the way to using zip-ties. All of them were pretty unsafe, hence the lack of breakaway lanyards. Manufacturers just don't wanna be held liable.
