The Official Random Video Thread!

Been watching the vids of this guy and his girlfriend sailing the world. Stopping at some very nice places, a good travelogue. Not much sailing experience when they started out.

Charming girl, imo. They eat a lot of fish.

An amazing story and sailor, Stig. I like to imagine being alone on a sailboat doing a major sea crossing. If I knew how to sail, I think I would like it.

I stopped watching the vids of the young couple on their sailboat. The money they make from their youtube uploads is what keeps them going. I don't have a problem with that, creating that set up for themselves, but when they started to sell their commemorating tee shirts to their followers, I lost interest. I read somewhere where they are making around four grand a vid, I guess enough for the young woman to go to some health rejuvenating resort in Bali for a week and make a vid about that too.

True, Jerry. They had one incident near the Galapagos, where a suspicious looking boat came up to them asking for food. After tossing them some canned goods they left. The woman hid herself and they said it was most unnerving. The guy was asking his followers on youtube for suggestions, should they be carrying a gun and whatnot. Apparently in some waters, piracy is indeed a real concern.

Their adventure could be punctuated by a pirate raid, too.

They are very real, like bears, sharks, and mountain lions.

Not so much the last couple of years.
A combined effort from several countries to wipe them out have borne fruit.

Thanks, Stig.

In recent years I haven't heard as many reports of piracy.

In fact, more recent Youtube videos I've watched are showing more kicking butt on pirates.

I can only assume that the political correctness factor of the issue lost out on the practicality factor of it.

That shark looks like either a Bull or a Tiger, kinda foolish to let it get so close. Stig, I saw a documentary about the combined effort against organised piracy off the coast of Africa. The Navies involved appeared frustrated due to their rules of engagement and the fact that the pirate king pins operated from onshore strong holds and used expendable fisherman as their proxies. It did seem to be a modern mafia take on piracy as opposed to traditional, also, the fisherman were motivated by the fact that "foreigners" with advanced fishing fleets had essentially plundered their once abundant fishing grounds-so they could easily justify their actions as their only source of income had been taken.

This would be better if it was a bit longer of a ride!

I did some silly things as a youth. But not at that height! I walked around the top outer sloped edge of a silo once. I was triple dog dared to though. So I had to.
