I will buy it as soon as I can get it. I want to see it advance more than this. Imagine skyscrapers using this, as high as they are. One could use the stored energy to raise the other. Or, a camp could have one mounted on a 150' tower... just crank that sucker up there and enjoy!

A friend and I talked about a similar system about five years ago. He has a lot of design experience, so I take my wacky ideas to him. One of the issues with solar, hydro and wind energy is being able to store the energy to accommodate varying demands. I suggested hanging a huge weight from a column and raising the weight during peak production, and lowering it attached to a generator during peak demand. On a larger scale, there are some issues with frictional losses, but it obviously has merit. I think what they have designed is awesome, and I hope they can make it to market.
