It wasn't her time. I've had some close calls like that in the woods. I think of those times often and figure the same. Mere inches to feet away from being killed and no clue at all it was going to happen. Later I would stop after falling a tree and look around at those it rubbed by and sure enough my hesitation saved me from being clobbered or killed. That's life and learning.

I had one close call like that years ago. I was falling a 100ft or so spruce, saw ran out of gas just before I finished the back cut, couldn't wedge it over so left it standing and walked towards my fuel/oil jug, just when I was about 5 ft from the jug the big spruce flattened the jugs and the wind from the tree knocked me to the ground
Never will forget that.
