I did call Paul (PCTree) to see if he would be interested in offering my Mesh bags, that WesSpur sells, with his Ropeteck Wraptor package. It comes with the Wraptor, 150' of rope, a hand ascender and a "rope bag".

That would be so cool to have two members her who developed somethig thats being offered in a package that would compliment each other!!! 8)8)

Last I heard, Paul & Sean (Bounce) were going to be talking about this but havn't heard nothing yet.

This would be very cool though!!!

It would be very good marketing for each product, as well as for WesSpur! A win win situation the way I see it.

Ah, who know, time will tell,

WWB,

Yes it is a very cool light bag that can be used to hold what ever you care to place in it...

BUT...

This bag (HC Mesh) was spacificly designed for climbing rope. A heck of a lot of time and effort, trial & error and lets not forget $$$ was used to develop this bag.
To get it to stands up on its own so you can fill it as if it were a pail was no easy task let me tell ya!
It even took the sewing staff at WesSpur a while to figure out the right materials & mesh type needed to get the right combination for the bag to work properly on there production bag that they now sell.

As far as a mesh bag for general use such as a tote bag for the beach or a bag to hold yarn & nitting etc... they are already on the market.

The two bags, HC & HC-Mesh were designd for the Arborists and his cordage. Each bag offers a number of different features most people will likely overlook. But given the choice between the HC Bag Line or any other bag on the market today...I'm betting they'll choose the one that addresses the needs of the arborist & the guys on the ground!;)

After all, it was you guys that provided the input and concerns that I had to address with the development of the bags.

Thanks to everyone once again!

Bob

I could see ll bean type customers using a bag like this to load up stuff to take to the beach.

Great looking bag. All the bags on wesspur's site look sharp. This one is the best, though!

Are you saying that they are NOT using the mesh material which you used to make the original bags from?

Frans,

You'll have to check with Bounce, I haven't seen thier production version in person yet.
I know they were experimenting with many different types of mesh from their local suppliers to get a match. The stuff I was using is very hard to get. I'm told that the stuff they are now using is very close if not the same and but by a different name. It may be the same, it may not...I just don't know for sure.
What I can tell you is that for the bag to work as designd, the characteristics of the mesh are the key factor. Its not important that it IS the exact same, what is important is that it DOES the exact same and I've been asured it does!

Hey, maybe I should have one of thoes production bags of my own!!! ...what do you think Sean??? hint hint ;);)

Would the mesh bags hold up well for bull rope storage?
Like say 200' of 5/8s stable braid?

Funny you mention that. I store 200' of 5/8ths stable braid in the HC rope bags. One just blew out this last week being tossed from about 55 feet. It was one of the newer wesspur bags. None of my original HC bags have blown out yet. I know it's using it for something it's not designed for.

Justin,

Can you send me some pics of the bag that failed, ( inside, outside pics etc). Was it the stitching or the material?

Maybe there is a simple design soloution that I can look into!

Always trying to improve stuff eh!

Bob

I'll try and get some pics for you Bob. It failed along the stitching along one of the vertical seems on the outside of the bag. A easy fix, I'm going to have a local cobbler repair it.

I will add that I abuse the hell out of your bags, both the old(er) blue ones and the newer red ones from Wesspur. No quarter is given to the treatment of these bags and they have held up remarkably well. Much better then competitors bags I've used.

I thank you for them kind words Justin!

I'd be very interested in seeing a close up pic of that double row of stitching on the vertical seam!!! How close each stich row is to the other row as well as how tight the stitching itself is!

The tighter the stitching is means the more holes along the side. Resulting in a weaker vertical side! The quality of the bags are measured in the details of its construction.

Bob

I will get you the pics then either this weekend or early next week and post them in this thread. I was very suprised when my groundie reported that I had 'busted' one of the bags.

I purchased one regular and one mesh bag a short while ago. As others have said, they stand upright while being loaded...making that little annoying task a lot easier. For that reason alone they are the best bag that I have used. I cannot now imagine purchasing any other brand.

The mesh material is actually the same stuff used by commercial fishermen around here when hauling in a fully loaded net. It's supposed to be incredibly strong.

Justin - if there was a defect in that bag, you can get a new one for free. Post a picture of the blow out and Bob will be able to tell.

Ok here's the blown out bag. Not looking for any replacement was just making an observation. As I also said these bags are overloaded and abused. But pictured with the tore one is one of the older blue ones that I'd say has been tossed quite a few more times then the newer red one which has blown out. I have a local guy that will patch that right up for me when I get around to it. They're both holding 200' of 5/8th.

Can't tell what happened form that pic, a close up of the inside would have been preferable.

I do like how the blow out stopped at the mid way point in the bag though!

HC

You'll have to wait for new batteries before I can get anymore pics. I had to talk sweetly to the camera to get it to take that one.

They are without a doubt a superior rope bag. And I agree with Brian the materials are top notch in both bags. I'm sure if I hadn't overloaded it it wouldn't have been a problem but I'd been abusing the blue one for quite awhile so figured I'd continue along. I'll try and remember to have a close look at the stitching and see if I notice anything out of the ordinary or different between the bags. Right now it's getting dark out here.
