My first removal ever was ~20 years when a blue spruce partially uprooted next to my drive. I tethered the tree to one of my locusts to keep it from going over, limbed it going up, leaving longish stubs as a ladder, then taking it down from the top. All with a bowsaw. An ash later came up next to the remaining stump, and I removed that this winter due to EAB. That stump's now sprouting. I'll pick the best leader, and grow a new ash :^D
