As for the Beringer 1996 Napa valley special reserve, It is a good bottle of wine, but it suffers from the same malaise that is common to most overseas red wines.
An adhearance to Robert Parker.
That means going for substance and mass over elegance.
I prefer elegance in a wine, so while I'll gladly drink the Beringer, I'll be more happy with a light Oregon pinot noir
Or a French Bourgogne , if I feel rich.
