How is mail fraud defined in the US? I know up here is is serious if you mess with someone else's mail! Probably do more timme for messin' with mail than murder, especially if money is involved.

Mail fraud probably only results from tampering with things sent through the USPS or other shipping service like FedEx/ UPS. Leaving something at the door would be different, I think.
