Ten Trees, HO with a camera, and the crew

Paul, Thanks man. The Wraptor is a huge game changer and I can't imagine what I would do with out it at my age handling these larger trees.
The jobs pay well, breakage of stuff ( my kit) bites into it a tad some days.

Gary, each tree has to be approached cautiously and assessed. You warn the customer as well, that things can go wrong. I am scheduled out 4 months. The condition of the trees changes as do the bids and estimates constantly. The storms sort them out a bit too. Pull tests tell you a lot. Climb only as high as you feel safe. You can peel the bark and check for cracking. The gaffs tell you a lot. I will not just Wraptor up in a tree I am not sure of time of death. Spiking up the tree provides better feed back.

Rajan, we had tried to sell the custy on moving the log into a flat spot for milling. He opted for a cheaper option... termites.
Mills are over whelmed with worthless wood. Nearest bio plant is 2 hours out. They have a steady stream of grindings from CalTrans, line clearance crews and municipalities/county crews. Costs money to make it all go away. And it will never all go away. Over 100 million dead trees and I bet we see it keep going for a couple more years (the die out).

Epic pics and job.

Good to read your safety approach to viability of each tree in question.

Thanks all :)

Scott, I think you get more big ones than I do :D

Some more.....
We stopped on this one just above the roof line. Stem had to fit shy of a sidewalk, leech field, septic tank and a drain line ....

Sure was a nice and gracious surprise from the home owners. I just mentioned to them, that if they got a few good shots, if they did not mind e mailing some to me. Got a nice thank you and a DVD.... Been a while since we did the job too.

Your old sign.. I did finally buff your name off the boom.. It was hard to do ... It was like having your friends name on something, you just want to leave it.
Stehansen's sign is still on his trailer

I should mention Sean, that we often start out with a longer hank (300-400') of 1/2" to do the limbs, top and smaller logs. Keeps the weight down on the climber. Once the logs push into about 600 plus lbs, we up grade the line. Use one line to pull up the next one to me. Helps keep the fatigue down.
