Tech cord eye and eye?

Got a 32" Tech-cord eye and eye from treestuff.com, it is un-jacketed technora and vectran.

Has a 900 degree F. + melting point.

Used it 3-4 times with both VT and distel, man, looks like shit now...lol
all ratty looking, is it supposed to look like that?
I didn't do any burn-outs on it.

I know the urethane coating will come off and the colour will change, but it looks pretty hairy and fuzzed out now.

Tech-cord! The purple stuff?

I'm probably off track here, but the tech-cord I'm used to had a purple jacket and wore out in nothing flat. Well least the cover did.

Beeline wears the longest of any pursik cord I've used. Bar no other.

Na, that is definitely not it. No matter though, a prusik cord shouldn't get ratted out in just 4 climbs.

what size is it and what size rope were you using it on

it is 8mm and I'm using it on arbormaster BWR, which is actually less than the 13mm it is labeled.

I'm pretty sure that stuff just breaks in like that. It's probably a lot like "Ice Tail" from Sampson, and that stuff almost needs to get all fluffed up before it's worth a damn.

I'm an HRC fan myself.

Yep. I've had some of this stuff before and it's just the coating that wears off.

Any idea the life of this stuff after it "breaks in" ????, I switch my eye and eyes off all the time, and use different,ones depending on the hitch I tie.

Yeah- don't worry about the looks. Check prior to each use to make sure the strands aren't damaged, but it should be fine. I have one of those that's a good 5 years old and still lookin' good and kickin.

Can you post a pic? They might've changed the recipe (amounts of twists) for one reason or another. The one I had was woven pretty tight.

Out of curiosity, does it have a locking brummell on each end?

Nick, it is locking brummelled on both ends, and i do have a pic of some of the wear after it's 1st outing, rattier looking now though.

the wear is fuzzier now, like a climbing rope when it gets broke in nicely but it doesn't look like the strands are damaged

That looks a little more aggressive than what i'd expect from 1 or 2 uses...but i'd keep rolling on it.

Here's what mine looks like after a few years. Granted- it's not my "go to" hitch cord that has seen a ton of use- but it did go through a several month long abuse review process, and is still going strong...

I used it for a bridge and didn't get that kind of abrasion. It didn't seem like good hitch cord to me though, too waxy.
