Looks to be a planetary gear reduction. Not for tight places but it gets the job done.

Yeah I grabbed onto a few cables a few times with my grinder. Worst was when grinding next to a septic tank , who ever installed the tank left the chokers in the ground.

I love grinding. I bought my grinder new in 2003 and it's been printing money ever since. Don't plan on buying a new one anytime soon either.
By charging by the inch I can stand by it all day for easy revenue up to $400 hr:)

I did a big stump removal job for a nearby town a few years back, I made about $15,000 for 40 hrs of work, working alone , they cleaned up and with a grinder that I paid $16,000 for back in '03.
Well after the job the town foremen told me they just purchased a grinder attachment for one of their skid steers and won't need my services anymore in the future.

Last fall guess who calls? I asked him "what happened to your stump grinder?"
He replies "Well let me just say it didn't work out so good."

I only got 25 h.p. on mine. Trick is GreenTeeth and I'm the only one running it.....12 years of operating practice rules.:D

I echo everything you say Willard, but having just got the 35hp Rayco I'm happy with the extra power.
One downside is the manoevrabilty, that old three wheel design can go round the tightest of spaces. Plus it's weight means you can get it out of a hole with a bit of elbow grease and swearing. The same cannot be said of the 800odd kg Rayco.
I see now why 4wd is handy on these machines.

I've been eager to upgrade to 35 hp on my old machine but it's 25 Kohler just keeps on going with no reason to change it.

Not a good time to buy US built equipment here at the moment. Our $ is now down to 83 cents. Good thing I stocked up on gear from Tree Stuff last year.

It is not the Canadian dollar that is down.
The US dollar is up.
Good thing I don't have to make a big Bailey's order for another year.

Maybe I should try to find a dealer in Russia:lol:
