Sterling Rope

Couldn't find where the $2 a foot rope is, found some stuff a little over a $1 per foot.

Had a chance to check them out at TCIA, had some great looking stuff, and everyone seemed like a great group of people, I wouldn't hesitate to try out some of their products.

Ah, I know the Tri Tech is expensive because its the first cut resistant rope that doesn't use a wire core, so I suspect the fibers that make it up are pretty hefty price wise. Sounds like the Tech 11 is somewhat similar, so that would be my guess as to their high cost.

That makes sense, i would like to see some data/video on that cut resistance, specifically under load, and if it works like it sounds i would surely make that investment without a second thought. I have been REALLY impressed with every Sterling product I have used in the past. Their rock ropes are GREAT.

Sounds like the expensive Sterling stuff is for line clearance lanyards. Nonconductive.

I would be curious how cut resistant it is compared to cable-core fliplines, and how well it 'flips'.

I called up Luke @ Treestuff to see when they were getting it and he mentioned that its cut resistant with regards to handsaws. My guess is that the stuff is as cut resistant as something like Icetail or Techcord. Most of those new high tech fibers cut like crap when you are trying to splice them, so it only makes sense that they could be advertised as cut resistant from a handsaw. These ropes are nothing really new and Earth shattering, just a new way of marketing.

I was having a hard time envisioning it not being able to be quite easily cut by a chainsaw, thanks for the info.

Well, not for the ultimate ascender, you are absolutely right Paul. My bad.

:D

Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask some questions about the All Gear Wraptor rope...wait, I'll start another thread...
