I am still upgrading here and there in my gear as we all do. I have Bashlins and I am thinking of upgrading the pads. Buddy I got the Bashlins from recommends an off set pad. I have a really basic pad and would like more support and comfort on my "chicken legs". So I am looking at the Ultra Stiff Wraps and and the Super Climber Pads for them. Both having double strap etc. Looks like the Ultra Stiff has more of an offset. Any thoughts ya'll?:D

Most here prefer either the caddy pads or the velcro wrap pads. The 'double wide' leather pads with two straps aren't much better than the basics, and if you're going to spend that much money then you might as well go one step better.

Yes I was also considering the caddy pads, I saw the Butch has them on the same spurs. I was just concerned about how they would fit on my legs as they are skinny... Muscular but skinny and bony.. LOL

What are the caddy pads? I haven't spent very much time in spurs, but a friend of mine had a set that had a padded aluminum upper that really spread the weight out over the leg. I have Bucks, with the velcro wraps. They dig in pretty well, but then again fat arsed folk such as myself have no business in a tree.;)

Caddy pads are the aluminum padded upper.. What your friend had.
I am 5'8" at 150 lbs. SO I need all the padding I can get .. LMAO
Size 29 waist...

Cool. They seemed to fit me better than the Buck velcro's. Don't know if the leg size makes any difference.

My two cents .... I completelly wore out the basic "L" that came with my Kliens ... at that point I upgraded to Buc Supers ... I love'm

Starting to sound like its the way to go .. Like I said.. my only worry is my bony legs.. LOL but hey.. If it does not work out... I could always sell them and try something else.

the double strap uppers are much better than the single, and the caddys are much better than the double. former employee got some velcros and left his caddys at the shop, he came back and said i was right cause i told him he would stay with the caddys:D

CSV, Do you by chance have the Wesspur 2008 catalog? On pg 49 you can see the stiff wrap offset pads right above the caddy pads. I love the thought of the caddy pads. Tried them twice in my career and both times killed my shins.

Obviously, something is different in my legs to create that problem but I can climb in the offsets all day long. They lay perfectly flat against my shin.

I don't know, but maybe you can tell by the configuration in the pictures compared to what you have, which might be most likely to fit your leg. Spur pads in my opinion, must have metal support. I don't care how stiff the leather is or how tight the velcro is, if there is no metal (or something stiff and unyielding), things will eventually start to shift and get uncomfortable.

Yes I have the new WesSpur catalog. I saw the offset but again one strap and less leg coverage, why I was considering the Ultra stiff. I don't know if I want to go velcro as I have never liked anything that had velcro for work. Seems it always gets messed up with stuff and does not hold well. I my environment, that would definitely be a factor. Heck just the burrs from the grasses here could screw with velcro.

Stephen,

If you are skinny then I am emaciated...about 5'10" and 140 (but I like to think muscular, too:D)

I have the caddies like MB, Burnham and some other hot-shot hoodoos (I'm a hotshot wannabe)...the caddies work great for me. I had the leather T's for years and whenever I did spur work it got to be pretty miserable after a few hours. The caddies have done very well for me.
