I was doing the local fire safe council's fire safety day in the park, and my wife ran into a fella from the socks for soldiers outfit.
We were handing out the isa trees are good coloring books, and he wanted some to send to afganistan.
Hes sending a package to 3 local engineers stationed there, and the men over there wanted things for the children of their village.
we gave him 25 of the books then and will get more to him in the next week.

The reason i wrote this, is because...i thought to myself while i was buying my lunch,
How cool is that, little kids in a war torn country, are going to be coloring pictures of trees and the people who care for them.

I dont know if any of you are familiar with these coloring books, they are great.

Im thinking these kids probabally never have seen someone smiling caring for a tree, so i was just kind of filled with this feeling, dont know i feel it tooo often, but there was a joy in my heart

I think it's the tree guy or little kid in me, but i just pictured these kids coloring these pics of trees and bugs, and i just hope that a little of our passion for trees stays with the children.

anyone got any other ideas of things to throw in the package for the kids?

besides the copenhagen and socks for the troops

so sad those kids dont get a childhood. did you know the russians used to drop "toy bombs". mines that looked like toys, not to kill the kids but to maim them to put a burden on the folks who had to care for them:( people can be so evil.......
