I made a few clamping stump vises when I was doing all that island work earlier this year. Vertical Bore cut about 2"down from top, then cut from top right next to the bore. Then cut horizonal a few inches down from the bottom of your first cut. Hold the saw in the second cut and wedge the horizontal to close the vise.

This one looks way easier!

Funny, I was just about to ask someone for a clamping stump vice pic. I haven't had the right fit for the scrench/ combi-spanner.

Hey, Sean! (Ruel). I hate to be a nag, but did you ever manage to get a photo of your finished stump vise? It would be a great thing to add to the Tree House library of knowledge. I think I understand your description, though, if it's too much trouble. No worries, either way. Thanks a lot for your previous post that described your technique.
