You'll never forget that incident, Cary, and it will, if you're normal, slow your top end performance down from here on. On the good side you survived it, and you will be a more careful climber from here on.
I know this. Because I had such an experience. Indeed. Before I always wondered that if I survived a fall how would I feel about climbing after wards.
My wonder came true in the early 80's and in spite that it nearly killed me I stuck with climbing for another 27 years. And enjoyed every day of it. Though the thought of that fall was always in the back of my mind.
And yeah being more careful slowed me down, but it made it possible to retire with some satisfying reflections of my career without a sorry ending.
