I don't think they're really comparable products. The other two alternatives are electrically powered; the components themselves are much more expensive.

Haha.

Some of the best things about the Ropetek Wraptor is the ease of portability and installation.

Self contained unit keeps you from having a bunch of parts to put an ascent system together. Unit has the built in back up that carries itself. Grab a rope and your good to go. Some people like the bling and all the gear, I like to keep is simple.

For "micro" companies like myself, I find it hard sometimes watching a groundie clean up a large branch, or operate some of the small machinery such as the mini skid steer.

The Wraptor will allow the climber to descend the tree, and help with the cleanup, and operate that machinery to make the landing zone cleared quicker. As fast as you came down to help, you can make it back up the tree to get back to work...with no energy expelled.

Gotta love it.

A little off the topic at hand, but you brought it up. Some food for thought..... Your ground help will never become as proficient as you at running the equipment if you won't be patient through the learning curve and let them do it. Practice makes perfect. Every one of us is probably really good at running our stuff. It wasn't always that way, was it? Erik used to really suck at running my log grapple. He's almost as good as me now. Patience and training go a long way in creating more productive employees.:)

To further that:

Ten years down the road with the Wraptor on the market, new tree guys will never need to know how to climbe a tree.

So now every useles hack company smart enough to buy a Wraptor will be able to underbid you even though they can't climbe worth chit!!!:what:

...and we will have PCTree to thank for that! :P;)

Nah, I disagree. The Wraptor is useful for getting up into the tree, but I think you'd still have to be a pretty good climber in order to move within the canopy. Also, you'd still have to be a compotent faller and rigger. The Wraptor makes getting up there a lot easier, but it can't turn a hack into a pro.

No dought, 'tis why I don't climb down at the moment to help...Wraptor-less.

Sometimes the time to learn isn't on a customers manicured lawn, but I hear ya!

I see the Wraptor used in many more applications other than treework. :drink:

I think you have made a very very good point there.

I think the industry (the tree industry and other high access) will just have to be shown that it can be used safely before they will embrace it.

Lets not forget the firefighters that rescue cats from trees! :D

ah huh...
