Looks like but isn't, iirc coal is verboten, burns too hot. Nice looking piece of furniture though, only really gets used three weeks a year.

I've just done a little bit of research and I think you're right, I could burn coal.
My bad! I'll buy a bag and see how it goes.

Coal does burn hot, it probably shortness the life of the metal compared to wood, I had one in a cabin once that looked very similar to your stove, what made me think it could be designed for coal. I went to sleep once with the pipe damper shut too much. woke up gasping for air, not good. A long time ago, but I think it was a nice even heat that coal put out.

Gasping for air is good, Jay.
It is when you shut it down too much and get killed by carbon monoxide that it isn't good.

Yes indeedy. I had a dull headache that turned into a thumper when I got my heart rate up. I figured something was wrong. Partially clogged stove pipe.
