It's bordering on spam. I used to moderate a forum, and we'd sometimes get people hawking their wares. While technically spam, if it was on topic, and of general interest to the members, I'd leave it. If it was repeated, especially without interacting with the members, I took a much dimmer view of it. If you're only there/here to advertise, he should kick some money over to Carl.
