Slow check outs are my gripe too. I love going in stores that you could bowl in. Ames used to be a good one. Sears is getting there.

Self check out is cool. You just scan your stuff and follow the options on the screen for payment. Most people are afraid to try self check out so there usually isn't a line.

I agree self checkout is nice when you don't have a whole cart full. Sometimes it pisses me off when it keeps telling me to "remove item from the bag" or whatever it says. Then you remove the item and it still won't shut up!

I tried one and it was a bit of PIA. If the line is long it would be my choice though.

I let Katy handle it... for the most art.. Less stress that way... Or order on line.. Like work pants and shoes.. I have to say the crowds have thinned down here in our wonderful state of the economy. Last week,, each line only had two in line....

My sister read an anecdote somewhere a while back about a woman in an auto checkout. I guess if you leave your item on the scanner it asks you to move it. She left a ham on the scanner for too long and the machine asked here to please move her pork butt.
