Bermy, try used the middle hole of the hitch climber pulley, always seemed to solve my problem if I didn't have a spliced eye in the end. Also, try the anchor bend over something like the double fisherman's.

As for the saddle, the Ergo is a solid saddle, I know of plenty of people who love it and are happy with it. A bit bulky for me but if you're used to it then all should be fine. Overall I think its a great saddle and wouldn't mind giving one a go.

As for Ice/HRC/Bee Line, I like Bee Line the best. It's what I've rocked for awhile. Tried HRC and liked it too, just haven't spliced up a new cord with it yet because the new stuff is a pain in the ass to splice since they changed the weave pattern on it. Ice I don't much care for, just too grabby for me. If I were you I'd order some of the new 10mm bee line from TreeStuff. Only place that has it right now, they basically took their 8mm stuff and vamped it up to 10mm, awesome, awesome stuff I hear, way better than the old crappy 10mm bee line. Way easier to splice too.

Or tie a bowline with a Yosemite tie off and a REAL long loop.
That'll keep your knot out of the way of your friction cord.

Burnham already suggested something like that, but since no one apparently listens to that old fart, I thought I'd gain kudos by suggesting it again.

Seriously, that setup works. But not as good as a spliced eye, of course.

Yup...we've been through all the suggestions, Don't worry Burnham, I did listen, just don't have any 'round tuits' right now ;)...but I don't walk around in spikes any more...

I'm using the second hole already...might try that spring suggestion of Paul's...

Davey no longer allows Weaver saddles to be worn after the recent warning

What was the warning on weavers? That was my first saddle, well besides the rope saddle but I don't think that counts! I climb in a sequoia and love it but I know it's not for everyone.
