So, Davey is going to buy me a saddle at the beginning of April, untill them I am on loaners as Davey no longer allows Weaver saddles to be worn after the recent warning.

My choices are Buckingham and Buckingham. They are willing to buy me the Ergovation, Buckinghams nicest saddle http://wesspur.com/Saddles/buckingham-ergovation.html

However i do have other choices. Basically any of the basic or deluxe models most of which I believe are listed here

http://wesspur.com/Saddles/buckingham-deluxe.html The only other models I considered were the versatile, and the glide http://wesspur.com/Saddles/buckingham-glide-lite.html I didnt like the versatile and the glide is just like my cougar, besides after making the Liger switch I really like the rigging plates and knotted rope bridge.

Anyone try the ergovation and love it? or hate it? Any other thoughts or opinions?

As far as hitch cords I can get HRC, ICE, or beeline. I currently use beeline and didnt like the grizzly splice on the ICE. anyone use HRC?

They will provide a hitchclimber pulley and all biners are petzl william ball locks. I hate the ball locks, but those are the rules I guess.

You are like a spoilt kid with your complaining. The selection of kit available to you FREE OF CHARGE is better than many will ever get to climb & work on.
Choose & go earn them some money

I am not complaining at all. I am thrilled!

I just wondered, since I have not worn Buck saddles and wasnt really familiar with the HRC and ICE what people thought. I am incredibly thankfull for all the benefits they are willing to provide and I plan to do exactly as you say, make them some money.

Why choose blindly, its free to me but not to them, shouldn't I get the right thing the first time? I dont want to get the most expensive stuff based on price, I was asking for input. Isnt that what the house is for, asking people what they think?

I climbed with HRC and didn't really care for it. I can't really say why but I just didn't. I like Beeline but my go to has been 12 strand hollow braids. I really like Tenex but I have been going with Ice because of the heat resistance. I just got some AllGear Tech Cord that I haven't tried yey. For now my vote is Ice.

And for saddle, get the Ergo. I have not climbed in one but I hung in one and it was nice..... I guess. It looks cool anyway. See if they will get you a New Tribe.... They're the best you know.

I like the Buck Pinnacle but you seem to shy away from dinosaur gear, so, nevermind;)

Roger.

I just use a step ladder and tie my waist to the tree with yellow nylon rope from the True Value. I don't over complicate things.

my co worker just got the ergo lite spartan from wesspur http://www.wesspur.com/items/sad140.html . it looks and feels like a good saddle, all the good features of the ergovation in a simplified, lightweight, and more durable package. if i wasnt so used to the low slung waist belt of the tree-flex i would get one for myself.

Stiff or limp is not a question asked amongst friends

Kinda depends on the nature of the friendship ... don't it ... :?

Just as long as you remember those trash bags filled with mulch underneath in case you slip (who remembers that fool from AS years ago!)

As for Icetail hitch cord, I used it for about 2 years, and liked it just fine. I only switched to Ocean Polyester because someone said I should try it, so I did and I like it fine too.
Ice is more grabby, I use it on my lanyard. I have been considering switching back to ice, as I don't have a splice in my climbline and the termination knot sometimes gets a bit close to the hitch using the hitchclimber. OP is stiffer and needs to be set more often when the knot bumps it, ice would grab a bit more reliably perhaps, when bumped from time to time by the knot in my climbline.
