Well that doesn't surprise me either .If as they said this chisel was targeted for the west coast market the eastern dealers would have no clue of it .

Fact is I've remarked before that I never saw chisel of any kind other than 1/4" made by Oregon during the 70's until about early 80's in these parts .It was used other places but here in the middle of a giant corn field it just wasn't available .

Again though if it proves out it won't be any time before Oregon makes it too if there is a profit to be made .If that's the case though it will likely be in the professional portion of sales .Most users of trim the apple tree in the back yard types could care less about the chain because most times in the life of those little saws the original chain never gets worn out .

I bought my first 020T in May '95, $1250Au probably about $1400US then. Best buy I ever made.

Tried a lot of top handle saws before and since then. If I had to buy another one price wouldn't matter, I've got three at the moment. 8)

1995 was the year I bought my 1st 020T also. Same design as my newer MS200 but with screw on caps and a tad less power. Back then in 1995 I did a chainsaw carving segment for CBC national television, Stihl Canada loaned me the new style [back then ] 020T demo to use on the program and I liked it so much I bought one.
I'd show you folks the TV video but its still on VCR tape, I'll have to try to convert it to DVD and then maybe I could post it on YouTube.

I must have got the wednesday/thursday models, mine seems a bit better than the MS200.

I did have a thread about my new 020T that I got last year but it got lost in the change over, I got it in as new condition.

I think it was Carl who said the muffler was different on ours and the UK ones to the US version, that might have been the difference.

Owner of the dealership called today. He said the rep told him that there wasnt a plan to distribute it in the midwest. Yeah OK. I said your rep is from Bryant in Ciny right he said yep. I said well that is where the chain came from . He says from who. I say I cant say. But I seen all kinds of loops and a invoice for it straight from Bryant. So thats where we stand.
Guess If I really want more down the road, I will have to dial the hook up 911. ;)

The difference in the muffler is the baffle plate .US,Canada and Aus. has 6 holes in it .Europian is 5 holes . It doesn't make much difference because most people remove them anyway .It does list two different mufflers ,one for the afore mentioned areas and another most likely for Europian markets .What the difference might be is not clear .

Oh I'm sure I could make a call down "south " and get it .That's just the typical remark made by most Stihl dealers who have the idea they control everything .Chit we beat them at that game years ago and they are still too stupid to admit it .

The first time that I have heard that the 020 has less power. Any conclusion why, Willard?
The mid- late 1990s Stihl 020T were a strong top handle especially compared to the older 1980s 020, but our new MS200s today have more zip then the older ones. Little more agressive porting is the main improvement.
I know from comparing mine.

With that if you ever get the occasion to see the open transfer porting on a 200 you won't believe it if you know anything about two cycle loop porting .The transfers by comparrison are huge .Also by comparrison the closed tunnel porting on an 084 is small in relationship to the bore .Take a look at this thing and remember how tiny the bore is on a 200T

The 200T cylinder is on the right, an 036 cylinder to the left .

I bought two loops of the new style when I bought my saw it's the 63pmc3 right?

Al, talking about muffler on the 200T, I just opened mine, as I found a loosened screw on it and I took advantage of that to clean it up.
You posted pics of the opened muffler some months ago. I didn't found it again, perhaps it was in the old forum. I don't recall exactly the pics, but it seems my muffler is effectively quite different, considering the internal gas path.

I'll take pics tomorrow.
Can you put your pics here again?

Right, I am not up on my Stihl chain speak. I mostly run Oregon and Carlton.

Hello Al, here's the muffler of my 200T.
No screen, spark arestor, nor something to put one in. Only an inverted funnel and a zigzag.

Sorry for the derail.

That inverted funnel deal would have a venturi effect except it dead heads right into that bulkhead .If you carved about 1/4" inch off of the outlet I suspect it would have a dramatic effect on how it runs .That or drill a hole right in the middle of that bulkhead to relieve that pressure some .

The shape of those mufflers are not really condusive to a true pressure can although by design it does hold a certain amount of volume .In my opinion relieving that pressure would allow for more fuel on transfer before the muffler pressure and cylinder pressure equalizes and should incease the power level substantually .Of course at the cost of more fuel .Then again you can't make power without fuel .:)

Here is a story I just read about what muffler modded saws can do:/:

Climber survives fall after fire in palm tree

An independent contractor hired by a homeowner to trim a palm tree fell 30 feet to the ground March 18,2011, in Tucson, Arizona, after the chainsaw he was using sparked and the tree caught fire. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a hospital with burns and other injuries, according to KGUN Channel 9.

The palm just exploded in flame? That he couldn't bail out with a quickness? Just asking have no experience in palms.
