here's my bike. It's a Trek 7100 that I picked up used last year for $200. I know almost nothing about bikes except that I knew I didn't want a skinny tired road bike (been there, they suck). It isn't really an off road bike, more of a hybrid. 21 speed.

My mom bought me this freeride Gary Fisher hardtail for my last birthday, full hydro brakes, yada yada. I am hoping to rip it up alot more this year, less mayhem hopefully. I'd like to pick up a full sus. towards the end of the year, but I need to replace the dirtbike first.

nice bikes guys. I put some shimano Deore parts on the Kona cuz the GF that I had at the time that rode it was a smash'n shift changing gears with the gripshifters.. My Rocky mountain has mostly XTR on it I think ecxept maybe the bottom bracket. I like the look and the reasonable price for hydro brakes now, if I get to riding more often I am thining I will change out the rim rubbers for a decent hydraulic system.

Crank 'er up!

I got me one of the big tire bikes, 4 or 4.5" wide. It's nearly impossible to slip on mud unless it's extreme mud, which surprised me a bit. My experience coming from cheap mountain bikes or the crossover types with much less aggressive tread. It is a heavy bike though, and I wish it had a lower gear mostly for the fun of it.

The scariest biking I did was with some friends when we were using cheap mountain bikes, starting way up a huge hill/small mountain. They were going full speed and I was struggling to keep up in high gear pedaling down hill so fast my feet are about to fly off the pedals, probably going 45mph. There was almost no shoulder on the road, cars flying by us, a 300-1000ft cliff on the other side, and those bikes don't feel too stable pedaling hard at 45mph. I'm like what's the rush wearing ourselves out racing down hill when we could have enjoyed coasting the 2 miles down?

Got back into biking after a loooong hiatus. I rode constantly as a kid so the muscles remember what they are supposed to do but they just need to get back into shape. I needed a cardio and I think I’ve found it.

Took a last minute PTO since plumbing was slow. Hit the trails for 4 hours.

Photo order: replaced my busted up pedals
Nearly stepped on a garter snake

White oak burls?

Rocks state park?
That was Little Gunpowder Falls. Parked off Rt1. Rode in circles (up and down the hill) and then to Harford Rd. Came back to 1 and hit Jerusalem Mill. Played around back there and back to 1 to leave.

I want to ride Rocks State park sometime but need to condition the heart and muscles first as well as integrate with the bike better. Although, there is a trail on the north end of that park which should be manageable and , perhaps, one at the top of the large hill behind the King and Queen Seat.

Would you ever be interested in biking?

I’m going to pack some climbing gear, bike in there, and rappel down that drop off in the above picture. It should be pretty manageable to climb back up, especially with an ascender. If you want to do that, we could just hike in. It’s a pretty benign feat but will be fun exercise.

I think my biking days are done, but I'd never say never. Life's full of surprises, and I find myself doing stuff I never thought I'd do.

I've wondered that too. I'm not sure if I've been on a bike since I screwed up my back. I've now spent more of my life with back problems, than without. Can hardly remember the before times :^/

Went 18.5 miles today as neighbors son had a gps to track distance. I found the sheer wall I was looking for. I couldn’t remember what trail it was off of. I discovered it hiking 8 years ago but it’s down a deer path and the environment has changed.

I’m determined to drop 20 lbs in the next few months between trees, biking, and cutting back on food intake.

Been riding since I was a kid, only way to get around when young before driving.
Still ride where I can, it helps my back, walking dosent help, tho if I get bounced around, or push to hard it hurts.

Neighbor up the road used to scoff my riding, now he has a big $$$ mtb and rides with a group during the week and weekends.
Good to see him out getting fit, and now he appreciates what cycling has to offer.
