too bad Fiona, I feel bad for you..:( I hate losing shit period, sounds like yours was a pretty big dent, hopefully it gets turned in or found, OR you get a big job that makes it possible to buy new toys! :) i like new toys ;)

Yeah, the dent is 200' of 9/16 stable braid, 2 steel carabiners, 2 one ton polyester round slings, a 6" cmi ss pulley and 2 log tongs...insert swear word...HERE!
No sign yet, I even went back along the road today in case it fell over the wall by the water...nada.

Ha, I just remembered cleaning out my shirt pocket this evening, and I forgot to turn on the washing machine, bye, gotta have clean duds for tomorrow

pocket t-shirts RULE

Geek or not, I need the pocket for my earplugs. I don't like the string-plugs, so I have to have several pairs in a pocket up front. I don't like the muffs, I like my helmets really light, and I too find the pocket rather useful for things other than plugs - like a pen, a piece of paper, and my phone. I don't know how anyone can survive without these things in the tree.

Leaving phone in truck isn't a good option, as you can't field customer calls as readily. Pen and paper to write yourself notes, or a poem while your ground guys are chipping the pile you've made them.:|:

I don't like the string ones, either. Do you remove and then replace the same earplugs in a shift? It so, you're opening yourself up to potential ear problems due to unsanitary procedures. When I insert earplugs, they're clean and not removed until the job is done. I'll put the used ones in my pants pocket and make sure there's NO sawdust/debris in my ear before inserting a fresh, clean pair. Usually, I'll keep them in all day.

I save the once used plugs until I've enough to put in a mesh bag and wash with my white clothes.

Interesting, Butch. I do re-insert used plugs. I make sure I'm not putting sawdust into my ear, and if pouring fuel, I wash my hands if any gets on my fingers, for the same reason. Unless there is some sort of study you are going by, proving that there are harmful effects from inserting used earplugs, it seems like a matter of personal preference. I've never seen anything telling me to use them once, then throw them away, or wash them. It's not like they come in a sterile container.

By the way, I have a profile picture uploaded, but it is not showing up. I made sure it was smaller than 1 mb, but it still doesn't show - format is jpg. What gives?

I reinsert all the time, never had an issue. I put them in th change pocket of my pnts and they go through thewash like that

I can't use the foam plugs, just the sweat over the course of the day makes them soggy and nasty after an hour or two. By the end of the day I'll have blackheads forming in my ears. I'll use muffs or the vinyl, non porous plugs like these-

BTW, welcome Winch. :)

Not sanitary.

Either is eating food that fell on the floor, or wearing dirty underwear, or touching a grocery carriage kids have drooled on, or..........

But I do them all.

I'm crazy like that.

I can't get those ones to seat in my ear, Brian. But I do know what you mean about when they get wet, they like swell and slide right out.

I never wear pocket tees and I STILL have sawdust in my laundry. I'm an all synthetic kinda guy now, at during the Summer.

I wear the earplugs with strings, got used to'em shooting. I have to pull mine out constantly because of the guys asking questions. The key to keeping them clean is to swab your outer ear canal after every shower and keep the plugs in a film cannister whenever you pull'em out.
Dirty earplugs? No way, I'd rather go without.
