Na, I think he could fit it on there
Actually guys a mini skid can sit on my trailer's stump grinder platform that holds my Vermeer 252. I built it that way if I ever did get a mini skid. I work alone and am really enjoying working this way and my whole trailer with all the bells and whistles fully loaded with chips still weighs under 10,000 lbs. Thats all I need for a one man operation. Deadlifting a few rounds don't bother me any.

A mini skid with stumpgrinder attachment would suit your operation a treat Willard. I can see why you like your little mucktruck though, it certainly fits in with what you do.

Oh, and ditto on what Brendon said about your facts ;)

Ed, yes I did think about a mini skid/ grinder setup, but my little Vermeer 252 just keeps on going strong especially with the GreenTeeth I run on it. I tried out a Vermeer 352 grinder once and with its extra weight over the 252 I couldn't believe how it started to rut up a "dry yard" I was working it on. I never had to repair someones yard and never want to. But yeah a skid steer would be handy seeing alot of work I do is on ground where rutting is not a problem.

Some guy from oz has pics of weed eaters with chainsaw power-heads. I couldnt imagine running one.

I got me a Tim Allen signature bad boy chainsaw. oh oh oh.

From some research I have done these mini skid grinder attachments are a little underpowered even compared to the Vermeer 252 I run.
I hear Dave from Branch Manager designed and sells a real nice grinder attachment setup with a self contained 38hp engine, I haven't seen a picture of it yet but I believe a larger mini skid is needed to transport it.

I designed the 38hp skid steer grinder. Dave liked the concept and bought several bare bones units from me. Subsequently he's done a bunch of his own refinements and adaptions for the US Market. Trust me, it makes a 252 look like a toy by comparison - Yet even the smallest miniskid will utilise it effectively.

Holy smokes Ed I didn't know that it was your design . Talk about luck talking to the right guy.:)
I only just read a short writeup about Daves product in the last issue of TCI magazine.
Post some pics if you can.
I'm presently welding and doubling up my cracked trailer frame where my grinder platform is. Just finished this morning. Now I have a strong base if I decide soon to get a mini with your grinder design setup. My 252 has over 1500 profitable hours on it now and now need to move on to something better.
I'm off to my camping holiday with fresh supplies. My wife and kids promised they will have a good feed of lake trout and pickeral for me when I get back.
Talk to you in a couple of days.

I'll looking very closely at that too. The guy I work for, has a bobcat MT50 and tried the bobcat stump grinder attachment some weeks ago. But it wasn't a great success at all.
Slow motion and low efficiency. Perhaps the MT50's hydraulic gears are a little tired (I couldn't really tell), but for us, this hydraulic powered grinder is useless. So I'm very very interested by your self powered attachment.
:big-wink:

Those look like sweet machines. Now all I need is a mini. Oh well, one more thing to add to the ever growing list of toys.

This grinder attachment is a smart versatile setup for a mini skid. Eliminating one less machine to have around.
The visability of the stump from the rear will be a different learning curve from what I'm used to from the side view of my Vermeer 252. But with this grinder the operator has a full view of both sides of the stump.
Very nice setup, I'll have to work a new mini skid with this attachment into my budget.

It really is a different beast to most manufacturers small grinders - when I built it, I specced it to have a greater cutting depth and swing than a 7515 Carlton - the boom structure is a mix of 90hp rayco and 75hp Carlton.
Bear in mind that although it's 'only' 38hp, all that power is delivered directly to the disc, no extra hydraulics to drive. It takes a little bit more of a deft touch on the controls, but it can really blast through the stumps.

Thor's Hammer, are you still making the "european version" of the stump grinder, or the "american one" by Tntree is now the onliest available ?
