Gigi and most of Fla lucked up but who knows what's gonna happen next? I hope we don't have any real victims!

If the track holds, we won't have to chase it; it'll be chasing us.

This could be the perfect storm . Let's hope not .

We in the midwest will feel some effects of it weather it makes land fall or not .

We were swamped with emergencies this entire week. From what I can gather we are going to get some 50 mph winds out of still. People freaked when she was gunning for sc early week.
Depending on the landfall I might ride up with the stumper.

Stay safe everyone, this 1938 hurricane had a similar path as Irene.

We're almost ready, but since I'm back from a parts run, it's time to see if I can get all of the vehicles working right again in case we have to bail out.

The thought of being a storm chaser really appeals to my young ambitions for adrenalin and adventure. If I were 25 again, knowledgeable and an able bodied, I'd go for where ever a storm would reak.

It's so easy and convenient to think about the possibilities. Never mind the danger.

Our storms in the northwest are piddle in comparison to a hurricane, in area covered, but the results are still the same. Just smaller in scale.

The old saying here, "Every dark cloud has a silver lining" holds most true for the treeman.

The last really big one we had, in -99, it took about a year to clean up all the fallen timber, most of which were big valuable hardwoods.
After the first few months, the fun goes out of putting your ass on the line everyday, cutting blowdowns.

The money is good, though.

Well so far we haven't hit the worst yet and my kitchen and dining room are most likely a write-off. The membrane on the roof peeled off and tore. The kitchen floor is buckling from water, the ceiling has lost sheetrock, in spots, and more are ready to fall. We may bail for my great-uncle's place if we have to, but we're waiting it out due to the trees on that side of town, and that I'd have to cut my way through the road to his place with my Husky.

The power and phone lines are still good for this section of town/our neighborhood, and apparently to the sub-station and telco office as well. I know on the other side of town where the other house is, is probably a mess, hence holding out here for the while. I've done all I can to mitigate our losses by killing the power to those rooms and putting out buckets as I see leaks, but with rain flooding in, it's almost moot.

Im ready to rock. I could use this storm. August was slow and my best worker ever is returning to work for me as of tomorrow/monday. With the new chip truck and disk chipper and my all star ground man back in the scene, this could be a money maker for me.

That sucks, Jason. :(

Downpouring like mad at the moment; no wind, though.

that sux Jason, we arent getting too much here, guess being an hour more inland is helping us out. I have been busy with storms for weeks now and really dont want another....
