This Irene storm was God's stimulus plan for OHara Tree Service. Ive done well on it. Ive made good money and added a lot of new customers(some which will stay, and of course, some which arent brand loyal), to the list. My thought process was a little different then it usually is. Typically, when I go and give a bid on tree work someone is considering, Im mid to high on the bid scale. I bid to make a good profit, or atleast try to. With this storm, i was mid to low. Of course, insurance work I am always high on. But, I saw truck loads of folks who got hit with unexpected storm damage and in many cases, had little to no disposable income laying around. Working class folks, raising kids, on a tight budget. I worked to accomodate them. Dont get me wrong, I made sure each job made me money on varying levels. I felt bad for some folks. They didnt consider taking a tree down, getting bids, and setting aside some money and going with the company of their choice. This shit got thrown on people whether they could afford it or not. So, I worked as hard as I could with folks to find an options to keep the cost down and make myself affordable. I made money, but really seemed to notice a deep sense of gratitude out of some folks.
Now its back to being the high baller.
