Hunting 2021

Little and fast through and through wont stop a charging animal. Exploded heart and a couple of broken shoulders will. Spine shot will. Head shot if the round is right and placed right. But not an easy part to hit when one is coming for you

Figure the Indians (feather, not dot) used to kill buffalo with bows weaker than those legally required to hunt white-tail in my state. Shot placement indeed.

Or they cared less about an instant kill and simply let them bleed to death.
Remember the Baleen bear and wolf killers?
Piece of Humpback baleen with pointed ends, rolled up tight and tied with a rawhide string, then frozen into a bit of lard.
After it is eaten by a bear, KAPOW!
Punctures the stomach and the animal dies.
But certainly not fast or painless.

But effective and safe for the hunter, and a technique developed a few thousand years before gunpowder reached the Arctic :).

A Buffalo jump probably wasn't quick or painless either, at least not for those who landed last.
Effective and safe, though.

That is probably going to eff up your Elk and deer population.

Hunters simply can't do the job of Wolves.

We have the same thing here with our roe deer.
Population crashes.

Nothing wrong with that as long as it's done with prudence.

My understanding of the Idaho bill that passed authorizing a massive wolf kill off is that virtually all wildlife scientists believe it is totally misguided and will not achieve the goals the bill's sponsors claim. Not to mention the lack of ethics and cruelty involved.

Wonder why he sets up several hours early if he knows the pigs come at night?

Not sure but he has mad skills and a huge library of kills of all sorts of animals using arrows, spears, and blowguns
