How to fix a bigshot

Al, most everybody who uses one without reading and following the directions will invariably face it backwards so that they pull the pouch back above the pole and directly toward their face. Some of us read the directions and learn to use it by keeping the pouch turned down along the bottom side of the pole. This is so that after you've used it for 2-3 years and the rubber finally breaks, it won't smack you in the face.

No they always break at the point where the pouch is connected to the tube. It kinda worries me about that thing slapping back into my face, almost to the point where I would think about putting glasses on but like I say they always fail at the other end.

If I can get this tube off of the slingshot I could fix it but it may prove hard to do........maybe compressed air:?

The instructions for installation tell us to use a little soapy water to slide the tubing on the frame. So perhaps squirting some dish soap down between the rubber and frame might allow you to break the friction and remove it? I'd use some sort of tool to slide down under the rubber to allow the soapy water to get in there.

I would try blowing them off with compressed air. It works on motorcycle grips and golf clubs.

Unless the pole breaks and sends shards of fiberglass splinters into your face/arms/body at great velocity

I use the filled poles. Just a bit stiffer also.

compressed air got it. built up a new hub(nice:)), cut the last 10' out of my climbing line as I had a bad spot, put in a splice and now after many beers Im going to try to fix the Big Shot.

One thing occures to me as I read these posts, you guys are obsesed with dreaming up ways for accidents to happen,, and you're old,, and you're still alive...... Hmm maybe theres a correlation here:lol:

even better trick.....use a can of hairspray.....squirt in the tubing, slide them on and then hit with compressed air...instant dry, ready to use. Soapy water takes a little longer to dry. You can also remove them this way.

FYI
Two recent adjustments to the BigShot replacement sling should prove worthy;
Double reinforcement where tube meets pouch
Pouch now grips projectile until release making it possible to launch horizontally ...or even upside down.

Should soon be available at all resellers, is available @ st.com

P.S. Price still $23...

I've been using mine upside down (sling shot style) since I got it. I never understood why the directions say shoot it pouch down.

I see. I generally don't get it very close to my face. I aim reflex style looking over the top. If that rubber breaks though.... damn, something's gonna get hurt fo sho.
