I was so much older then; I'm younger than that now. B.D.

Started professionally (well for money anyway) at 15; just turned 59. Slower now but still having fun (and making money). :)

I roofed with my father through high school.

Then in college I ran a saw for the forest service for 4 seasons of fire and stand thining.

Then I moved to the North Bay and ran a resource crew for a couple of years teaching corp members how to cut safe and be effective.

Started in a saddle in 2002, I was 27.
After a few years of private sector I came to my present position in the land of milk and honey.

I love it. Love trees. Love to climb.

I've been a CA for maybe 6 years.

You started out with the same nut crunching saddle I started out with a few years earlier.

Damn Dude, Tough Crowd tonight.

I always admired the rare folks you'd meet that would flip flop fire crew and fishing boats.

That's a tough double I'm sure.

Started rock climbing on the coast when I was about 8 I solo climbed alot never been on ropes until I was 24 been doin it for about a year now and luv every minute of it.8)

Started logging in '77. Probably started climbing about 3 years after that. Like some others have noted here, I'm not great but I usually manage to get it done.

Started climbing as a job back in 1985.......climbed pretty much full time for the next 16 yrs. Got into gamekeeping/woodland management after that but still climbed on the side for extra $$. Nigh on stopped climbing after coming over here and working as a sales arborist for some of the bigger companies, but since setting up TWM almost 3 yrs ago have started getting back up trees.....every now and then.

I started a year after high school so it has been 7 years now. My dad had been running the small family business for 30+ years and I needed a summer job. Never thought in a million years I would end up doing this line of work as I grew up, as I always saw myself as a suit and tie guy when I was a kid. I remember I was going to the local community college for 2 years and I would goto classes filthy, stinky, and full of sawdust. I would goto class and then go back to work. I still was not thinking I would be doing this for a living at that point in time, but I was gaining a lot of respect for the job and it started growing on me. Then one day my dad said he was ready to retire and he had wanted me to take pictures of the equipment to get ready to start selling. It struck me like a frying pan across the head and I completely broke down. I could not let my dad throw away everything he has worked so hard for and I knew right then and there this is what I was supposed to do. Then I went down to SIU and brought back a degree in forestry and I have been doing this ever since. I know I could be making more money sitting at a desk somewhere, but this is what I enjoy doing. When my body takes a shit on me than I have something to fall back on.
