My old man put me at a disadvantage by hammering into me for years about how debt was completely unacceptable regardless of the circumstances. He never explained the difference between consumer debt and capital debt, just that it was all bad. I guess he never figured I was smart enough to understand the difference. The only times I ever got ahead and made more money was when I borrowed money to invest in my future. If I had never wavered from his advice then I'd be sitting in a rented mobile home working for scraps right now. Fark him.

Yeah I'm glad I did too. I paid cash for the mini loader. I started out with paid for goods. But when I upgraded I financed.

My old man was the complete opposite. He told me save your money and as much as possible, use someone else's money to buy stuff. He believed in borrowing to finance real estate and business, but not for stuff like new furniture or TVs.

Great book! That was the book that inspired me to begin investing in my future. Since then I've read a couple dozen good books on investing and creating wealth. In fact just today I got my copy of a book by Nicolas Darvas which I'll read this weekend.
