I gotta agree with Mr B. on the peripheral vision thing. On the rare occasion that I need to wear head gear for warmth, I prefer something that fits tighter over my ears.

I see all these people walking around with their hoodie's pulled up, nothing but tunnel vision. Anyone could approach them from any direction but straight ahead with ill intent and they'd have not a clue 'til it was already over. Or driving, for cripe's sake...driving with no ability to see anything but what's right in front of them.

I need to see what's around me, must be part of that situational awareness thing that I'm big on.

There are times when nothing beats a hood, I just avoid using them most of the time.

I dont wear a hoodie while working but I have two that I wear to chill out in around the house. Since I am in company logo clothing more often than not, they tend to last a while.
