Seems Halloween has been waning in popularity over the last several years. I haven't turned my light on for trick-or-treaters for about 5 years, and never had more than 2-3 kids in the three years prior to that.
Another sign that Halloween isn't widely celebrated any more is when the candy goes on sale three days BEFORE Halloween. I just got back from the grocery store and they had all Halloween candy on sale for half price (buy one get one free).
I also noticed the pumpkin patch at the local megachurch was already gone this morning. They didn't even set it up until last week.
