I have a house guest.

Jerry Beranek has come to say hi. I can say that there is much saw dust on the floor and beer consumed. We are having the best time.

Mark from "Ace", Daniel Kelly and others assisted us with a large removal. We have been treated to the "Robin Logging" hospitality (thanks) and traveling about with Brett Robin on a tour of stumps and "watering holes". Forget the "tour of trees" you must be fit for this. It has been more of a party atmosphere than work. Thanks to all.

Some have said that Jerry will go home talking more like an Australian however I think we are all speaking more like an American.

Boys will be boys....I'm sure y'all are having a great time. We look forward to the results of your getting together.:)

Very Cool! Sawdust and Beer make an excellent combination! Let's hope we see plenty of pics from your gtg!

Sydney Poitier?

Cool stuff Graeme. You and Jerry have done jobs that just seem crazy to me but you've done them with such a systematic and thoughtful approach, that it's obviously skill and not just sheer bravado.

Massive skill and experience seasoned with nerve, imo.

Gerald Beranek logging in under G McMahon

The scale of the eucaliptus forests here is truly awsome. The mountain ash is the king. So many different species though. Easy for the locals to tell them apart, but I struggle. Been spening most of my time in regen but some in old growth and mature stands. It's all absolutely beautiful with the tree ferns for understory.

The McMahon's are treating me like a prince. This visit is so much more than just a tourist run. Spending time with the family and getting all the local color and insights makes it a much fuller experience.

I'll be posting a run of pics when I get back. A little bit of everything. I've taken over a thousand so far. So it will take a day just to sort through them all.

As far as speaking like and Aussi I'm just learning some the coloquialisums. But am sure to use a few when I get home. Learned some good jokes.

Will catch up when I get back. so much to show and tell. Having a great time with the McMahon's

Jerr, get some close up pics of his climbing and rigging gear.

No one called me to go! Granted, I can't do the things they do, or take pics like Mr B currently does, but ill be damned if I'm not one heck of a saw refueler!8)

You look sweaty, brother. :drink:

Superb, just superb. I'm still pining to get down there myself, as I'd hoped last year. Ya'll have fun now...Clearly that's just what your doin' Yeah, I know, those boots were made for climbin'.....are you ready, boots...!

When Derek, the modestly titled Awesomeclimber, was posting picts of his work, I was struck by how much Australia can look like Northern California. Eucalyptus was brought to California and has taken over in some places. It'll be interesting to see Jerry's pictures to see what the part of the country Grame's in shares that resemblance.

A lot of Blue Gums in California, most came from the gold rush days I think. Good idea at the time, maybe.

Derek's area is a lot different to where Jerry is, so is here. Still some big trees though, just not as tall but big.

Blackbutt is mainly along the coast, a lot where I am. They can get pretty tall in the gulleys around here, tallest I've done was 150' and it wasn't big.

Thinning out now due to development, but there's still a lot of national parks and reserves. Eucalyptus pilularis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucalyptus_pilularis

That's not me by the way.:)
