I thought I would want the visor but have never had the unit slip. I run 1/2" on it most times and break out the 5/8" for the big stuff
IMO, the visor is not just to keep the device from slipping. It makes it child's play to install the device on the tree.
True one man operation to set it up.
to pull a branch up by having two guys pull on the rope while it is in the pig tail. Having your pigtail fly off the first time you use it is not a good thing.
You will have to work very hard to brake the new pig tails. Maybe bend them, but snapping them will take alot of determination.
I'd skip the visor for now and buy another block to dedicate above the device.
You should always have enough blocks to do the job.
Again, the true value of the visor comes out when you walk up to the tree holding the base plate, set it into the kerf, step back and set the strap and then tighten it. ALL WITH ONE PERSON.
Real nice.
Have your helpers clear the area or gas up saws or something.
It is passé to have two or three guys standing in a group struggling to get the grcs attached to the tree. One holding the trucker's bar, another desperately holding the base plate, and another working the strap.
If your doing all that, then your not part of the 'cool' crowd and won't get invited to all the really good parties.
