Ordered my ergovation on Thursday from treestuff and got it today (what a great company) but anyway my first overall impression is that it is a well thought out a put together saddle. It is a bit on the heavy side but coming from the cougar I will hardly notice the weight. I haven't done any real climbing in it yet and plan to mess with getting it dialed it in tonight. I think that I am really going to like this saddle and I will report back my review incase anyone else is thinking of getting one.

agreed Luke and co. are the shit, they go beyond for a lot of stuff! that said, Sean at Wesspur is a great dude to deal with, those 2 companies are all you need ;) let us know how that big beast handles man!

What type of climbing do you do Butch? if it is lots of canopy and limbwalking, a rope/web bridge like the Sequoia is pretty hard to beat :) I'm betting though for mostly removals or not too much lateral work; the New Tribes would be hard to beat! ask Romsos, he is pretty, shall we say, portly? and still gets around well in one... for a semi- fat guy ;) ;):P:P

in hooks or not? I'm mostly not, so a light mobile saddle is best for me.

This old man got a New Tribe, even though I am not on the portly side, and it is like having a Lazy-Boy recliner. A bit heavier than the basic 4-Dee saddles I suffered through for 26 years, but I can do a lot of lateral work, or sit and work cabling and not get that pinched hip feeling at all. I'd try a TreeMotion or Ergovation if anyone wants to loan me one for a bit.

So far I am liking the saddle...everyday I find that I am adjusting something little to get it completely dialed in. It is very comfy though even though I don't have it completely dialed in yet.

I have a floating D and I hate the damn thing. I cant move around in it and it doesnt have a bridge on it. I really would like to buy the tree motion, its on my list!

The part that the sliding D slides on is the bridge. If you don't have a bridge then you don't have a sliding D. Did you mean to say that you have a standard four D saddle?

Sure, saddles have come a long way in the last 25 years but that doesn't mean that an old style saddle will keep you from getting around in a tree. I did pretty good considering I climbed in a four D saddle for over 15 years. ;)

Haha sorry about that, i ment four D. Yea it gets me around, i would just feel more comfortable in the tree with a harness i feel comfortable in.

This is like what i have: http://www.sherrilltree.com/Professional-Gear/Tree-climbing-saddles-harness/Basic-Tree-Saddle

Yeah dude, those get the job done, but can be torture on the body at times.

Make sure if you choose to order a TM, get it from Luke at TreeStuff. If you call him to order, he'll knock $50 off the price.

My cougar did have leg straps (no batten). I thought it was a pretty comfortable saddle with the leg straps, I have never tried a saddle with the batten seat.

Well I sold the Ergovation as that saddle just was not for me and I got the treemotion instead...should have done it sooner. Wow this saddle is unreal. The most comfortable saddle I have ever worn!
