My buddy cut a tree, which fell on a can of old cooked grease, splitting it open.
The neighbors dog got into it and ate it .Then the dog went inside and puked on the carpet.
Now my buddies customer wants him to take out an insurance claim to clean the puke stain.:whine::whine::whine:

If it is a good customer I would just hire a carpet cleaner and pay for it out of pocket. Save your insurance for a big claim. Put in claims for a lot of small stuff and most insurance companies will drop you.

15 years ago I had a pit bull that tore the plastic bumper off my friend's car when he was visiting. He said his insurance agent could stop laughing after look at the car and couldn't believe a dog could do that. That dog would tear open coconuts that I brought home to eat the meat inside.

So.... why was the neighbors dog on his customers' property to begin with?

I doubt I'd be able to justify responding to such a moronic request. And if the guy was moronic enough to follow through with legal action, I'd have to countersue him for being an idiot and wasting my time and money.

funny Jerry............how bad was the damage? a little puke cant be that bad.

The tree cutter cut a limb . This limb was a touch longer than he had calculated. The limb hit and slightly jarred a Bar B Que grill . No damage to the grill at all,but it did knock over the can of collection grease .
The little angry poodle immediatly ate as much as he could and went straight into the home and puked.
This is totally serious and real.
The home owner explained that he is a contractor and was not into fradulent insurance claims but he deemed this a worty cause and asked my tree buddy to call his insurance company.
Does this one take the cake ?
I tried to tell the story as it was told to me.

The dog owner was negligent in allowing his mutt into the work area. I refuse to work with loose mutts running around, I have no way of keeping them out of harm's way.

No matter how you look at it, the negligence still falls back to the dog owner not controlling his mutt in a work area.

Dear dog owner and possessor of vomit stained carpet,
Sir , I believe that you are lacking an understanding of the fundamental nature of responsibility.
Have a nice day.

I just noticed NE tree has put Tom D off his sig.
Right on , i was so tired of looking at him everytime i read your post NETREE.

What Stumper said , thats classic.

A bizarre chain of events to be sure, but it did start with the grease can being knocked over by the tree cutter. In the interest of good business relations and Christian charity, your friend should offer to have the carpet cleaned. I don't think it warrants an insurance claim though, since it could likely be done for less than $100.

Several years ago, I got a call from a customer about 6 weeks after we had removed a tree in his front yard. He claimed that his dog had carried a stick (Apparently left behind due to our shoddy cleanup  ) from the front yard into the back yard, where the lawn mower picked it up and flung it through a window. He wanted me to pay for a new window. I asked him how he knew it was from the tree we had removed, since he has about 6 other trees in the back yard. He claimed he saw the dog carry it from the front to the back, to which I answered, well then why didn't you pick it up before you mowed the lawn. :what:

Whose yard was the grill and grease can in? Your customer's? If it was the dog owner's yard, I can see his point.

Don't worry... I didn't do it to please YOU. ;)

Yeah im sure :|:
The grease can was in the neighbors yard ....
How wacked is this story?

Its hard to believe but i swear its true.
The tree climbing buddy of mine told me , man that was one angry little poodle hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

we laughed till i cried:whine:

Well there ya go! He was trespassing; guilty as charged, case closed. :/:

:P

Jerry, The grease can was in the tree customer's yard or in the dog owner's yard? Please clarify.

I see. So the dog was NOT trespassing and it would not have happened if the the tree guy hadn't encroached upon the dog owner's property. Your bud SHOULD pay for carpet cleaning.
