So....for real...thumbnails or full size? What works best as far as the site "health" and viewer ease is concerned?

When I go look at my full-resolution images here they overfill the screen...is there a preference per you?

Nah, I absolutely prefer full-size embedded pictures. The forum software keeps it from stretching the page width on my laptop or phone... clicking thumbnails is frictional. I inserted your pictures full size earlier... it flows on my devices.

If people want to see the picture full size, they can still click on it and see the uploaded resolution.
