I might have the name wrong, and I'm having trouble searching it. I'm interested in the cut that mimics a natural break. I'm considering something like that on the pine leader I started a thread about. If anyone has a source for a guide, or some good pictures, it would be appreciated. I'd like to practice it on some logs, and see if I can improve the tree vs leaving it alone.

Thanks Cory! That's it, and I'm getting good search results. Doing "crown cut tree" got me a bunch of links on topping :^S

didn't reg make some vids on the subject?

including blowing huge tops out with dynamite that were too dangerous to cut, I think with the intent of making habitat, if memory serves

That sounds really familiar. Someone here showed a video or pics of them doing it.

There was just a thread about this on treebuzz. Interesting stuff. I really like doing them, less visually arresting than a flat top if in a view
