I just had the “bright idea” of cutting an 8” DBH EAB riddled fraxinus Americana to perpetuate its existence. Its growth pattern is terrible with extreme lean so I’d not want to treat it. It would just be to help perpetuate that particular tree. It’s gonna die anyway. Would this work as a type of management strategy?
 
It will grow for a while until the bugs get it. All the regeneration I see gets eaten. You will get maybe 2” caliper diameter and that’s it.
