I assume most of the business owners here are like me. Trained in the industry and very little, if any, business training. I recognize that as a weakness of mine and so I do what I can to address it. I used to go to SCORE seminars but they lost their budget and now they only do online webinars and those seen to focus on startups. The WAA has a business tract at their annual winter conference that I go to. I also read a few online sources like Entrepreneur and I follow SCORE on Facebook. I still feel like that's not enough. Do any of you have anything that you do that helps with the business end of things?

Eric,

I am not a business owner (yet), but I have one suggestion for you. Check your local community college
http://lakeland.edu/Academics/BusinessAdmin/major.asp Located in Neenah Area.

That is the course requirement for the masters in Business Admin. I am not suggesting that you pursue a degree in its entirety, rather consider taking some individual courses. That specific school looks a little pricey compared to a community college. Credit hours can be had around here for $100 @ community colleges which makes it $300-400 per class.

When looking at course requirements dont get to caught up in the path requirements. If you contact the counseling department and explain what you are looking for and business experience most likely you would get approved to take classes that interest you without having to take English101 and such...

College coursework can be as informative and beneficial than any of these 'seminars' not to mention much more in depth. I did not succeed myself with college life but have been considering going back to take some 'cherry picked' curriculum.

University of Wisconsin offers $200/Credit courses at their two year campuses for in state residents.
