Has anyone gone to their facility in ohio?
Was going to take the line clearance trimmer course in october.

Any recomendations on things to bring, i believe they have all the gear. Lodging and rent a car/ airfaire to work out still, havent had time to look yet.

Good way to knock out some CEU's too.

Anyone taken their course before?......opinions on their course?

They came to my work a couple of years ago.
The guys said it was cool, everyone learned a new trick or two.

I was on a 6 week sabatical.

Sounds cool, If you have the funding you should go.

The US Forest Service tree climbing program has contracted with ACRT to provide a course covering rigging for heavy wood removal three times in the last few years, and I've either attended or facilitated all three. They have done a good job, customizing a course to meet our specific needs. They were able to do so at a cost that was quite a bit lower than Arbormaster, and were willing to accept FS training and certifications for both tree climbing and chainsaw use as meeting their prerequisites, which Arbormaster was not.

Peter Dubish, their lead instructor, conducted our classes in a fully professional manner, and did so while keeping an extremely comfortable training atmosphere.

I'd highly recommend him and ACRT to anyone considering attending some of their offerings.

I took their course about 15 years ago, but I did it on my own and had the local fire chief observe and sign off on my tests.

I've never dealt with them before. Let us know how it works out if you go. I've been interested in taking some of their courses myself.

if everything pulls together ill be there in ohio for a week doing line clearance training to get my card, rather than work 18 months for someone else to get it

Just checked my application status there. Had two apps in. One is "being considered for another job" & the other is "being reveiwed".

The tough part for me will be getting past the college degree requirements I believe. We'll see...........

Davey tree called today, but i think im gonna take the course 1st,
then maybe i can sub to them instead
either way some work would be nice

If they Want you now I would think they would want you more after you've completed the course. This however would only be my opinion.
Don't know how Davey feels about hiring people trained by others and not themselves.
If you can afford to wait I'd go for the class first too. Can't hardly have too much education (or too many reminders) in this business.

they want 18 months of your blood, sweat, tears , and a small piece of..........YOUR SOUL
ok well maybe not your soul, but a good chunk of time, card comes after 18 months

I am still in the running for a Transmission Forester job at ACRT. Looks like it's in Columbus,OH. Would sure like to get out of this Bucket by the time Winter hits.....
