M made a big pot of split pea soup, one of the regulars around our place. But since we were out of potatoes, she used some sweet potatoes that were on hand. WOW! Really changed the flavors. I wouldn't say the recipe needs to always go this way, but to mix it up now and then seems like a fun...
Oysters...I have always maintained that the first person to try eating an oyster was either very hungry or very adventurous.
:D
Looks good, Austin. You plate handsomely.
That's funny...as I recall, it was a toss-up for M and me whether to have the rice, or to cook up a pot of grits instead. We really enjoy grits, and regularly.
Collard greens...not so much.
:)
Last night:
Salmon fillet quickly seared and then baked for a short time drenched in an orange juice/dijon mustard mixture. Served with brown rice, sliced sweet red bell peppers, and avocado quarters.
Tonight:
Pesto on fettuccini, both homemade. I think I'll make a salad, too.
A big salad with the meat from a couple of Dungeness crabs that friends gifted us after a successful crabbing expedition to Astoria.
Not had it yet but coming up soonish...we just picked the crabs.
