... I will try to to get some photos ... I'm working in the Largest Oak I have ever been in (or seen) ... Red Oak ... at least 165 foot high (I'm tied in at well over a hundred)... decent canopy spread maybe 70 foot .... the log is huge FOUR foot D.B.H. ... I just don't get to work in trees like this very often .... an old forest tree left at the time of home construction ....

I'm hoping the Home owners will photograph on Sunday .... Last time I was down there we only had a part day ... I cut all the suckers off the log on my way up .... cleaned out the crown some .... set my super high TIP .... removing the very top limbs above that ( I hate going back for them)... and set an ISC ....we will use the GRCS .... and a 200 foot lowering line ....

sweet deal, can't wait to see the pics, carry a camera man, carry a camera...;)

That's a shame. I took out a pretty fair sized valley Oak in California before I left. I got carte blanche with the stump and cut a spiral stair case in it.

Joel if only you could have come down to Conn. when you were up North , we coulda done this one ... It was clearly marked number one ....

Here in Cali a tree like that would be surrounded by 101 protesters and the litigation just to do the job would take years and 100 thousands dollars to see it down. Tree killers and protesters. Would make a good board game I think.

There was a guy in N. California who used to hand carve great chess sets, really nice work. One in particular I recall was made of characters he envisioned at a porn shoot. I imagine that he could do something very interesting with the theme of loggers vs protesters.

Those Red Oaks are totally awesome. The Pics I have seen of them in the forums just blow me away. Then someone builds a house under one that has been around for 200 years before they arrived and then decides to kill it because they are afraid of it, want a view, a swimming pool or more sunlight. so long... tree.

Oh, oh. Liberal alert!!
