The few goes at SRT I tried creeped me out cuz a handful of half an inch of rope ain't chit.

If you had to power up that rope on arm strength alone you'd be fugged.

Means that if your foot gadget goes south? That's the direction you'll be forced to follow as well.

I need an inch of rope to get a grip on good enough to lift me n my stuff up.

Inch an a half'd be even better, foam filled or somethin.....

Samson vortex is rated almost 9000 lbs breaking. I run a beefy CMI foot ascender and a HH. On short ascents I have foot locked. SRT is a different kind of climbing. Foot and knee ascender is the best. RADs setup sucks, but gets you there. Foot lock, well, you know. A second climb line or the tail of the SRT line set up DdRT works, often reseting the TIP, yada yada yada. Good ol' climb the tree with SRT back up. You do need nice grippy gloves on SRT, saves on having to squeeze so tight, or a hand ascender.

Vortex is sweet rope. They just came out with a new 11.7mm version that looks pretty nice too!

I've seen the Youtube video. Only problem for us Canadians it'll probably cost $500CAD for 150ft......
